This design was stitched with EdMar rayon thread.

The shimmery floss gives the humming bird the silky look.
You will need to have the basic knowledge of the following Brazilian embroidery stitch techniques:
Bullions, Cast-on Stitch, Drizzle Stitch, Double Stem Stitch, Detached Buttonhole.

The book Brazilian Embroidery 101 is a great reference for instructions for these and other dimensional stitch techniques.

If you have the basic knowledge of these techniques the directions will tell you how to use them to create the design elements.

The EdMar thread used in the sample:.
Greens: Iris 024 Iris 149. Stems to Fuchsia: Iris 149.
Fuchsia: Lola 204 Center: Lola 169. Stamens: Glory 204. Bud Lola 204.
Hummingbird: Glory 216, 000, 049, 002, 204 and 206
